I take a food first approach to nutritional therapy. This is because the nutrients within food are integral to our body's systems and have a significant role in influencing our health and sense of wellbeing. I do not believe that expensive or exotic ingredients are needed to nourish the body and I do not support or suggest quick fixes or 'fad diets'; food should be enjoyable and exciting to eat. My approach teaches you how positive food choices can affect how we feel, support digestion and help support the body towards preventing, mitigating and maintaining health. My aim is to always work collaboratively with you when making dietary and lifestyle changes to ensure that they are achievable and realistic for you.
I adopt a functional medicine approach in my practice. Functional medicine addresses the underlying causes of disease, using a systems-oriented approach and engaging both patient and practitioner in a therapeutic partnership. It is an evolution in the practice of medicine that better addresses the healthcare needs of the 21st century. By shifting the traditional disease-centered focus of medical practice to a more client-centered approach, functional medicine addresses the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms.
